Sunday sermon [Video made 7-29-18]

John 6:47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
John 6:48 I am that bread of life.
John 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
John 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

NEW [Other videos below]

This Sunday I spoke on the verses for the Mass - 7-29-18- but I taught mostly from 2nd Kings 4- I’ll add my past teaching below on the entire chapter.

Later today- Sunday 8-5-18- I will try and post the video I make today to Youtube and Facebook.

I used the theme of ‘what are you doing with the leftovers’?

In Kings we read-

2Kings 4:42 And there came a man from Baalshalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the firstfruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in the husk thereof. And he said, Give unto the people, that they may eat.

2Kings 4:43 And his servitor said, What, should I set this before an hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave thereof. [Left-overs]

2Kings 4:44 So he set it before them, and they did eat, and left thereof, according to the word of the LORD.

This is a supernatural miracle of the multiplying of provision- with some ‘left over’.

The reading from the gospel was similar-

John 6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.

John 6:12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.

John 6:13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.

Notice how Jesus himself tells his men to ‘gather the leftovers- so nothing is wasted’.

In ministry- many good men teach- write sermon notes- and prepare for the Sunday [or midweek] message- and often times- that's the only time their teaching will be shared.

Yet- if they ‘gather the leftovers’- meaning- develop a process where the voice is recorded- the notes are put on- line- then over the years you can re- serve the leftovers- and others will continue to benefit from the provisions God has blessed you with.

Ministry is not simply having a public pulpit- though that's a part of it.

But it’s being disciplined to feed the sheep- to take the time to gather up the leftovers- which is obviously not as exciting as seeing the bread multiplied on the spot.

But it is often the more mundane things- that in the long run- will have the greatest benefit.

Leaders- pastors- are you driven by immediate excitement of preaching the message?

Do you look forward to making ministry trips and speaking in other locations?

Of course we all like doing that [watch my NYC videos].

But also be disciplined about the left overs- think with a long term strategy in mind.

The last few weeks I have been re-posting my videos- some of them were from my NYC annual trips.

To be honest- I’d rather be there actually making the video- walking the streets- meeting new friends.

But if I didn’t take care with the left overs- then people would have only seen them- once.

Save the left-overs- if people are really hungry- they will go for 2nds.
